Job Description:

Hand Finishing Supervisor | Location: Ilkeston | Pay: £15.13 per hour + overtime at x1.5 | Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm (additional hours as required)| Contract: Permanent | Immediate start available

Capella Industrial are working in partnership with an established and highly respected print production business that delivers complex, high-volume print campaigns for a wide range of clients. The business produces time-critical printed products that require precision hand finishing, coordinated pick & pack operations, and absolute attention to detail.

Due to the upcoming retirement of a long-standing supervisor, the business is now looking to bring in an experienced Hand Finishing / Pick & Pack Supervisor to take ownership of a key department and ensure continuity, quality, and delivery during a critical period.

The Role

This is a hands-on supervisory position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the hand finishing and pick & pack department. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring work is completed to specification, campaigns are delivered on time, and production data remains accurate.

You’ll be working closely with the Finishing Manager and wider production teams, acting as the link between departments to keep workflows moving and standards high.

Key responsibilities include:

· Supervising daily activity within the Hand Finishing / Pick & Pack department

· Ensuring all work meets quality standards, deadlines, and customer specifications

· Managing workloads to avoid downtime and ensure productive use of labour

· Carrying out pack checks prior to dispatch to ensure accuracy and presentation

· Coordinating campaign work entering pick & pack to ensure readiness and timing

· Ensuring staff correctly log jobs within production systems to maintain accurate data

· Managing Web2Print orders and flagging discrepancies or system issues

· Liaising with internal teams including Production, Finishing, CSR/Account Handlers, Systems, and Dispatch

· Providing overtime availability information and supporting production planning

· Supporting training, development, and cross-skilling within the department

· Maintaining health & safety standards and a clean, organised working environment

About You:

This role requires experience within a printing environment producing similar products. You must be confident managing campaign-based print work and leading teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.

Essential experience:

· Previous experience within a print production / hand finishing environment

· Supervisory or team leadership experience

· Experience managing large pick & pack or campaign-based projects

· Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset

· Confident communicator who is approachable and calm under pressure

· Ability to manage competing priorities and tight timescales

Desirable:

· Experience using Pace and/or Process Shipper

· Knowledge of Web2Print workflows
